Make Your Tree Spirit
In this workshop, you’ll create a quirky little Tree Spirit using sticks, clay, twine, and found materials. We’ll begin with a simple face and form, then slowly wrap, weave, and add details as your little being starts to take shape.
There’s something about working this way that leaves room for surprise. A color catches your attention. A bead suddenly belongs somewhere. A face takes on a personality you weren’t expecting.
You don’t have to know what any of it means before you begin. Just follow what sparks your interest, and your Tree Spirit will find you!
And once it does, you can keep going…
There’s a guided meditation in the workshop to help you spend a little time with what you’ve made, listen in, and see if your Tree Spirit has anything to say.
Maybe it becomes an altar piece, a little guide, a companion, a reminder, or simply a quirky being that makes you smile every time you see it.
The Fun of Stick Dolls
The fun of this workshop isn’t about making something perfect. It’s about what can happen when you loosen up, play, and let your imagination get involved.
Creative play has a funny way of getting us out of our heads. As your Tree Spirit comes together, you may find yourself following a story, noticing a thought, or giving meaning to something you didn’t plan at all.
That’s one of the things I love most about making this way. You’re creating the doll, but you’re also listening a little as you go.
So yes, you’ll leave with a Tree Spirit you made yourself.

Faces are often the part that makes people nervous. But I promise, this doesn’t have to be hard.
I’ll show you one of my favorite ways to make a simple little clay face, and it’s a process people have been using successfully in this workshop for years.
They come out quirky, funny, sweet, serious, slightly wonky sometimes — and absolutely full of personality.
You do not need to know how to sculpt a face. I promise, I’ll show you what to do.
