The Magic of a Kitchen Witch

In old European kitchens, a witch on a broom was a welcome guest. She wasn’t feared—she was cherished. She kept bread from burning, soup from oversalting, and laughter in the air. She was a good witch. A lucky witch. A reminder that the everyday can be enchanted.

Now you can make one of your own.

Your Kitchen Witch will be born from wool, wire, and imagination—protective, quirky, and full of character. She’ll carry your intention and your story, ready with her broom to bring a spark of magic to your home.

Handmade Kitchen Witch doll with long orange yarn hair, a green felted dress, and a small broomstick. Created in the Kitchen Witch needle felting workshop, a playful make-along class for beginners in magical doll making.

From Wool to Witch: Here’s What You’ll Do

  • Learn how to needle felt—even if you’ve never tried before

  • Build a flexible wire base so your Kitchen Witch can pose and bend

  • Paint and attach a face full of character

  • Add clothes, hair, and a playful little broom

  • Discover the magic of creating gently, at your own pace

All you need is curiosity and a willingness to poke wool with a needle until something magical takes form.

A Creative Retreat for the Soul

Needle felting is an unhurried process, which is why this workshop unfolds over two soulful days in my Asheville studio. There’s plenty of time to sink in, enjoy the making, and let your Kitchen Witch come to life step by step.

We’ll spend the weekend together, with plenty of time to settle in, laugh, and bring your Kitchen Witch to life step by step. I’ll guide you through the entire process: from armature building to felting her body, painting her face, sewing her hair, and crafting her broom.

It’s a full, joyful weekend of making—playful, soulful, and energizing. You’ll leave not only with a finished Kitchen Witch but with the confidence to keep needle felting and creating long after the workshop ends.

What Folks Say About These Workshops

“Thank you very much for your wisdom, artful spirit, and hospitality. I signed up for your class, hoping to spend a day using my hands and mind in ways that would challenge me to create something I had not experienced before. Your class offered me many options to choose from when considering my spirit doll, and with your encouragement and talent, it all came together — just as you anticipated. I was grateful to meet new like-minded people in your class and to put aside the outside world for a day.”
Shelley

“This was my 1st spirit doll creation that awakened unseen facets of myself. Stacy provided a safe, calm, nonjudgmental space for each of us to explore ourselves while creating these dolls. Stacy is a great teacher who truly loves the process. She was helpful & her supplies to create these 1 of a kind dolls left nothing out. 10 out of 10 ⭐️’s for me.“
Val

“I spent the day with Stacy making a spirit doll. She helped me sew a doll stuffed with prayers I wrote into little bundles. The spirit doll turned out lovely, and I keep her by my bedside to remind me of the love I felt while making her.“
Joy Doyle MD

“The spirit doll workshop with Stacy was just what I needed to give myself a day of creativity and supportive company. She offered a clean, organized space and all the supplies so we could just show up. No artistic experience needed! Stacy paced and guided things well and offered support as our unique dolls all emerged. Highly recommend!“
